Tow Verification Process Guide
The Final Check Before You Tow!
So, your tag scan showed a vehicle might be unauthorized? Great! The Tow Verification step is your crucial final safeguard. It asks you to manually confirm the license plate one last time before proceeding. This ensures accuracy and prevents towing legally parked vehicles.
Why it's important: This step protects you and the vehicle owner by double-checking the plate information with human eyes before initiating a tow record.
When Do You See This Screen?
You'll typically land on the 'Tow Verification' page automatically right after a tag scan during 'Patrol' returns an INVALID / EXPIRED / NOT FOUND result (`false`).
How to Verify the Tow:
This step is critical – pay close attention:
- Review System Scan: The screen will likely show the license plate the system read from your photo (`plate`). Look at this carefully.
- Visually Inspect Plate: Look directly at the physical license plate on the vehicle.
- Manually Confirm Plate: CRITICAL STEP! Find the field labeled "Confirm Plate" or similar. Type the license plate number exactly as you see it on the vehicle. Use ALL CAPS. Do not just copy what the system read if it looks wrong! This manual check is vital.
- Check Property: Ensure the correct property name is still selected or displayed.
- (Optional) Enter State: If prompted, enter or confirm the license plate's state.
- Submit Verification: Click the "Verify Tow", "Confirm", or "Submit" button.
Verification Results:
Based on your confirmed plate, one of two things will happen:
-
Error: Permit Found! If the system finds a valid permit for the plate you manually confirmed at this property, you'll see an error message like: "The information you entered matches a license plate permitted on the property. This vehicle cannot be towed".
Action: STOP! Do not tow this vehicle.
-
Verification Successful: Proceeding... If no valid permit is found for the plate you confirmed, the system verifies the tow is justified.
Action (Towing User): You will be automatically redirected to the 'Tow Configuration' page to fill in the details and create the tow record.
Action (Property User): The tow record will be automatically created and dispatched to your linked towing partner. You will likely be redirected back to the dashboard.
